I'm super excited about this site. It's a work in progress, so please bear with me. :) I first had this idea about 1 year ago, and it (obviously) stuck with me. Ever since I can remember, I've always loved giving back to the community...and so it was inevitable that I majored in sociology and started working in the non-profit world after I graduated from UCLA. I became involved with this great non-profit organization that provided transitional shelter for homeless families. Among many other things, I worked in the food program area and was responsible for finding local businesses to donate food (e.g. left over catered meals, baked goods, etc.) to the organization. I came across many people who wanted to, but weren't able to due to logistics and other complications. That's when I began to think of how I could simplify this process...and voila! Food for Charity came into existence (in my mind at least). So with enough ruminating and encouragement from my friends, I decided to go for it and create this site, which is for businesses and charities to: 1) find each other; 2) identify what food the business has and what the charity needs; and 3) make it happen! Stay tuned because as I said above, this is very much a work in progress, but I promise it'll be up and running soon enough. Thanks for reading. :) -Tracy
